This album was written and recorded at The Clocktower Studios in 13 days between December 1 and 13, 2010 as a Christmas gift for my friends and family. I set out to create relaxing songs to calm the nerves whilst driving through the slippery Chicago snow; however, if you're not located in a snowy climate, its nice music simply for Chistmas morning as well. They're instrumental, so the whole family can enjoy them without worrying about content.
The songs are meant to be listened to as an entire work. That said, when in correct order on a playlist, CD, or iPod, they will play into one another to create the illusion of one continuous song (After downloading, load the songs into iTunes. iTunes has an automatic feature which "Determines Gapless Playback." This ensures the songs flow cleanly into one another. When "burning" them onto a CD, make sure under the tab "Gap Between Songs" you select "None").
Though mastered for modern car stereos, try listening to it in headphones in a quiet room. You might be surprised. Or turn it on while wrapping presents, baking cookies, cleaning house, sleeping, or other such activities which demand background noise.
Things were different two Christmases ago, and physical CD copies of this album were individually mailed as gifts. Through the progression of electronic distribution of media on the internet in the past two years, its as easy as putting the record up online and letting everyone I know (and everyone they know) download it as a Christmas gift....for free!
Merry Christmas to you and yours from Matt and everybody at The Clocktower!
Also, I have many friends who have demanded how they pay me for my art, and many family members who are super awesome and have paid money for past releases as a way of showing their love and support. I sincerely appreciate everyone (you know who are are) who has paid me for past releases, so so much. I have enabled the "let fans pay if they want" feature for this album. Basically, when you click "download" on here it asks you to name your price. You can just enter "0," really, its okay, its Christmas. I put it there if you're feeling "guilty" for getting this for free or what-have-you. Enjoy it though! Nothing ever comes for free anymore, and I love you all!
